Staff Physician

The Northeastern Tribal Health System is seeking a full-time Family Practice Physician that provides ambulatory health care to eligible Native American beneficiaries.  The Health Care Center is located in close proximity to the Grand Lake area, as well as thirty- minute interstate access to Joplin, Missouri.  The facility offers expanded salaries, excellent benefits, loan repayment options, no weekends, and no call.  To apply please submit a current resume, certifications, and current state license.  Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit proof with their resume.  Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and complete a background check.  To apply, send requested documents to:  Northeastern Tribal Health System, P.O. Position Description for Staff Physician

  1. Introduction

    This position is located at the Northeastern Tribal Health System, Miami, Oklahoma. This facility provides ambulatory health care to eligible Native American beneficiaries. The incumbent functions as a family practice physician, assisting with the provision of those services.

  2. Duties and Responsibilities
    1. The usual duties, responsibilities and functions of a physician including; history taking, physical examination, the ordering of diagnostic procedures, diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
    2. Communicates with patients and families on management and prognosis of illness, providing emotional support when appropriate.
    3. Communicates with specialists to coordinate the provision of specialty care as necessary.
    4. Proper and timely documentation in the patient’s health record of all activities and decisions relative to each case.
    5. Provides obstetrical and gynecological services within individual capabilities.
    6. Provides ambulatory surgical procedures within individual capabilities.
    7. Participates in continuing medical education, quality improvement, and committee activities as required in maintaining clinical privileges and facility accreditation.
    8. Participates in documentation, coding and billing improvement activities to enhance third party collections.
  3. Supervision and Guidance

    Under the general administrative supervision of the Medical Director, incumbent exercises professional judgment in carrying out medical duties restricted only by facilities policy and procedures, and formulary limitations.

  4. Qualifications

    At least six years of family practice experience with medical, pediatrics, surgical and OB/GYN.  Board certification in Family Practice is preferred but not mandatory. Must meet all licensure requirements.
